Activating VP Backup Service

VP Backup Service must be activated on your server and the server must be powered on for your backup processes to begin automatically. Additionally, your selected backup location must be available. (Click here to set up your backup processes.)

The Ortho ViewPoint icon ( ) appears in the status area of your taskbar, usually the lower right-hand corner of your screen, to indicate that VP Backup has been activated. If the icon does not appear:

  1. Click the [Start] button on your computer's task bar.
  2. Select {All Programs >}; {Ortho II ViewPoint}; {ViewPoint Backup Service}.

When VP Backup is activated, any scheduled backup processes will begin automatically. In addition, you can right-click the icon to go to other VP Backup application features:

{Activated}: When VP Backup is simply activated on your system, the activated icon appears in the status area of your taskbar, usually the lower right-hand corner of your screen.

{Executing}: When the backup process is executing, the VP Backup icon on your taskbar changes to indicate that VP Backup is working. You cannot make any changes to your backup processes at this time: The only option available to you while a backup is taking place is {Stop Execution}.

{Error}: When an error occurs in the backup process, the VP Backup icon changes to indicate the error. It is important to review your VP Backup Log at that time to determine the cause of the error.  Click here for information about viewing the log.
