Start and Stop Execution Manually

Your backup processes are executed automatically on the days of the week and time you scheduled. (Click here for more information about scheduling automated backups.) However, you can also start and stop the backup process manually if needed.

  1. If VP Backup Service is activated on your computer, you can simply right-click the ViewPoint icon ( ) that appears in the status area of your taskbar and select {Start Execution} or {Stop Execution}.

If the ViewPoint icon ( ) is NOT on your taskbar, you must first activate VP Backup Service, then right-click the icon.

  1. If the VP Backup Service application is open (double-click the icon in your taskbar to open the application), you can:
    1. Click the {Start} or {Stop} icon on the VP Backup Service toolbar.
    2. Right-click a process name and select {Start} or {Stop}.
    3. Select {Processes} then {Start} or {Stop} from the VP Backup Service menu.

When the backup process is executing, the VP Backup icon on your taskbar changes to this: to indicate that VP Backup is working. You cannot make any changes to your backup processes at this time: The only option available to you while a backup is taking place is {Stop Execution}.
