Setup E-Mail Notification

When you use the VP Backup Service Setup Wizard, you can specify whether you want e-mail notification when a backup process fails and/or when the process is successful.  If needed, you can adjust those settings  manually.  To do so:

  1. Open the VP Backup Service application.
    1. If the ViewPoint icon ( ) appears in the status area of your taskbar, usually the lower right-hand corner of your screen, double-click the icon to open the VP Backup Service application.
    2. If the ViewPoint icon ( ) is NOT on your taskbar, you must first activate VP Backup Service, then double-click the icon.
  2. Select to define the backup schedule in one of these ways:
    1. Click the {E-mail} icon on the VP Backup Service toolbar.
    2. Select {Tools} then {Options ->} and {E-mail} from the VP Backup service menu.

You see the following screen.

  1. Supply the required information. Click here for a description of each field.
  2. When you are satisfied with your responses, click [Save] to save this information and exit.

In addition to e-mail notification, the VP Backup icon that appears on your task bar changes to this:  when a backup processes has failed to be completed. You might then want to view your VP Backup log to discover and correct the cause of the failure.
