You KNOW
that backing up your system files is mandatory... VP Backup Service makes
it EASY! Eliminate
worries as your system data is automatically transferred to the local
or off-site backup destination of your choice. VP
Backup Service allows you to determine the location and scheduling of
your backups, so that they are as convenient as possible for you. In addition,
you may register with us and, for a fee, store your data safely off-site
with our recommended FTP hosting service.
VP Backup is not automatically installed when ViewPoint is installed.
To use VP Backup you must install it from the ViewPoint CD-ROM. Be sure
to install it on your ViewPoint server. To install the VP Backup Service:
Insert
the installation CD and in the drive, and navigate
to the \VP Backup folder on the
CD.
Double-click
the Setup icon.
If Microsoft .Net Framework is not already installed
on this machine, read the End User License
Agreement which appears. You may scroll through the agreement on
your screen, or click [Click to View
EULA for Printing] to print and review the agreement. When you
have finished, click [Accept]
to accept the license agreement and continue installing the backup service.
(If you instead click [Don't Accept],
the installation process is cancelled.) Please
wait. The initial portion of the installation may take a few minutes.
The ViewPoint
Backup Service Setup Wizard appears.
Click [Next
>] to continue with the Setup Wizard.
Select the folder where you want your backup
service installed. Typically this is C:\Program
Files\Ortho2\ViewPoint Backup Service\
or something similar. To help you decide where to install the system,
you may click [Disk Cost…] to
view the amount of space you have available on your computer drives and
how much space it will take to install the VP Backup Service. When you
have finished reviewing the Disk Cost information click [OK]
to continue. Then, if necessary, click [Browse…]
to select a different location for the installation.
Choose whether the VP Backup Service application
will be available to Just
Me or Everyone
who uses this computer. This controls whether the service can be accessed
and changed from just the Windows profile you are currently logged in
under or from all Windows profiles. Either is acceptable because you do
not need to be logged into Windows at all for VP Backup to run.
When you are satisfied with your choices so
far, click [Next>] to continue.
Click[Next>] on the Confirm Installation
screen..
Click[Close] to exit after the installation
has finished.
Note: Should you need to remove VP
Backup Service from your system, double-click the Setup
icon on the CD, select Remove ViewPoint
Backup Service, and click [Finish].
