Export Mail Merge Documents

Run Export Data ToolClick to Open  Use Data Tool (141) - Export Merge Documents to export one or more of your mail merge documents to a format that can be imported into another ViewPoint database. You might do this, for example, to share merge documents with other orthodontic practices that use ViewPoint.

  1. Open Data Tool #141 - ViewPoint Main Menu > Tools & Utilities > Data Tools > Destructive #2 tab > Data Tools 141 - Export Merge Documents, and click Run.

  2. Select the Documents & Path to Work With Choose to export one or more documents from your Letter Library. You can use the Clear All and Select All buttons, or select documents individually. Be sure to enter a convenient, accessible location for the Merge Document Export Path.

  3. Confirm Your Action After selecting the documents to export, click Export to complete the exporting process. (Or, click Cancel to exit Data Tools without making any changes.) The document will be exported, in Word format, to your Merge Document Export Path location.

    If your Merge Document Export Path location has an existing document with the same filename as the document being exported, the existing document will be overwritten by the export.

Non-Mail Merge Document - The exported documents are standalone Word documents: they will not merge with ViewPoint from the exported location. The original document, however, remains in your ViewPoint database for merging purposes. If you make changes to an exported document and want to use it with ViewPoint again, you must first import it into your ViewPoint system either as a new document imported from the Letter Library toolbar, or as a document replacement imported from a document Properties window.
