Whenever you wish to experiment with ViewPoint features or train new staff members without jeopardizing your practice data, you may use the Training Database provided by Ortho2. Then, you can toggle back to your real data to enter actual information for your practice.
Start > Programs > OrthoII ViewPoint > Orthonet. (Note that your folder names might be slightly different, depending upon when you installed your ViewPoint system.
Change the OrthoNet options carefully to preserve the integrity of your practice data.
Network type - Select TCP/IP unless otherwise directed by a Ortho2. You generally do not need to change this field.
Server name - Select the name of your ViewPoint server, typically O2. You generally do not need to change this field.
Database name - Select the database to use. Generally Ortho2 contains your real practice data and Otrain contains training data. If you have multiple databases for your real data, be sure you select the correct one when switching out of training mode.
Save - Click Ok to save your changes.
If you switch to training mode, be sure to switch back to your practice data before entering any real information.
Training database notice - When you log into ViewPoint with your training data, you are alerted that you are not entering information into your real practice data. If you do not see the notice, you can assume that you are working with real data.
