Receive Text Notices

Activate the Edge Reminders Text Messaging application on your workstation to receive instant notification of patient text messages sent to your office.

Get Started

Enable Text Notification Option - Enable the Receive Edge Reminders Text Messages configuration option if you want to load the Edge Reminders Text Messaging application on this workstation whenever you open ViewPoint, which allows you to receive text message notifications from your patients instantly. (When the text messaging application is active, theEdge Reminders Text Messaging icon appears in your system tray.) See "Set Up Edge Reminders Configuration" for details.

How to Get Here

Open ViewPoint - When configured correctly, the  Edge Reminders Text Messaging icon appears in your computer's notification area whenever you open ViewPoint.

Use This Feature

Receive Popup Notification - When a patient texts your office, the message will pop up on your screen for a few seconds.

Display Recent Messages - To see a text message after the pop up notification has disappeared, right-click the Edge Reminders Text Messaging icon in your computer's notification area and select Received Messages. Then select the message you want to review. The received messages queue is cleared when you exit and re-enter ViewPoint.

Open Text Conversation - While the notification is on your screen, you can click the message or the patient photo to open the text message conversation window. If the phone number is associated with multiple patients, you will be asked to choose which patient to work with. Select the patient or responsible party, then click Close to continue to the selected conversation.

Exit Text Messaging Application - When you exit ViewPoint, the Edge Reminders Text Messaging application is closed also. However, you can manually close the application by right-clicking the icon in your computer's notification area and selecting Exit.

More Information

Text Patients & Responsible Parties - You cannot send a text message from the Edge Reminders Text Messaging icon in your computer's notification area. You can, however, send new text messages from within the patient folder. See "Send Text Messages to Patients & Responsible Parties" for details.

Edge Reminders Text Message Log - Use the Edge Reminders Text Message Log to review the log of replies you have received from your automated Edge Reminders text messages, as well as replies patients and responsible parties have made to individual text messages sent from the Patient tab or Responsible tab of the patient folder.
