Subgroup Operations

The criteria for your subgroup is listed on the bottom left side of the window. As ViewPoint performs a subgroup, items grouped with precedence are tested first as a unit, then criteria are tested from the top down, according to the AND or OR operator assigned to the requirement above it. To change the criteria, click the description you want to work with, then click Edit Item. The parameters available depend upon the type of data you are working with:

Your subgroup results can include or exclude records based on a date, or a range of dates.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list to find the type of data you want to work with.

  2. Double-click the field you want to test to open the Field Properties window.

  1. Enter the first value you want to evaluate in the First Date field. If you want to subgroup a range of dates, you may also enter the Last Date value.

  1. Click to OpenChoose the operation you want to use to test the selected value(s).

    "Not" Option - You can also enable the Not option to reverse the meaning of the selected operator.

    Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Not Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that do NOT match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Greater Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall after, but do not match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Greater Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall after or exactly match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Less Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall before, but do not match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Less Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall before or exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Enable the Range option if you want your subgroup results to include records that either exactly match, or fall between your "First" and "Last" fields.

  1. Click Ok to add the criteria to your subgroup template and return to the subgroup summary screen.

  2. Enable either AND or OR in the subgroup summary screen to indicate how this criteria should relate to the criteria directly above it.

Your subgroup results can include or exclude records based on dollar amounts.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list to find the type of data you want to work with.

  2. Double-click the field you want to test to open the Field Properties window.

  1. Enter the first value you want to evaluate in the First Amount field. If you want to subgroup a range of amounts, you may also enter the Last Amount value.

  1. Click to OpenChoose the operation you want to use to test the selected value(s).

    "Not" Option - You can also enable the Not option to reverse the meaning of the selected operator.

    Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Not Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that do NOT match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Greater Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall after, but do not match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Greater Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall after or exactly match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Less Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall before, but do not match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Less Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall before or exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Enable the Range option if you want your subgroup results to include records that either exactly match, or fall between your "First" and "Last" fields.

  1. Click Ok to add the criteria to your subgroup template and return to the subgroup summary screen.

  2. Enable either AND or OR in the subgroup summary screen to indicate how this criteria should relate to the criteria directly above it.

Your subgroup results can include or exclude records based on numerical values.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list to find the type of data you want to work with.

  2. Double-click the field you want to test to open the Field Properties window.

  1. Enter the first value you want to evaluate in the First Number field. If you want to subgroup a range of numbers, you may also enter the Last Number value.

  1. Click to OpenChoose the operation you want to use to test the selected value(s).

    "Not" Option - You can also enable the Not option to reverse the meaning of the selected operator.

    Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Not Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that do NOT match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Greater Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall after, but do not match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Greater Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall after or exactly match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Less Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall before, but do not match, your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

    Select Less Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall before or exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.

  1. Click Ok to add the criteria to your subgroup template and return to the subgroup summary screen.

  2. Enable either AND or OR in the subgroup summary screen to indicate how this criteria should relate to the criteria directly above it.

Your subgroup results can include or exclude patients that have specific data in the Findings tab of their patient folders.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list so you can see your Findings categories.

  2. Double-click the Patient etc., Tx Findings, or Tx Findings All Phases option to select the type of information you want to subgroup, and open the Field Properties window.

    The Tx Findings All Phases option allows you to search all patient findings, regardless of your patients' current phase of treatment. By contrast the Tx Findings option searches only the findings for your patients' current treatment phase.

  3. Click the response you want to test in your subgroup. You may need to expand the categories further to see your list of available responses.

  1. Choose the operation you want to use to test the selected response(s). Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that have the selected response; Select Not Equal To if you want to exclude those records instead.

  1. Click Ok to add the criteria to your subgroup template and return to the subgroup summary screen.

  2. Enable either AND or OR in the subgroup summary screen to indicate how this criteria should relate to the criteria directly above it.

Your subgroup results can include or exclude records that have specific responses from a ViewPoint table.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list to find the type of data you want to work with.

  2. Double-click the field you want to test to open the Field Properties window.

  1. The list at the right of the window includes responses you have chosen to test for the subgroup. The list at the left shows you responses that will not be tested. Select a response you want to work with, then click Add> or <Remove to include / exclude that response from the subgroup testing process.

  1. Choose the operation you want to use to test the selected response(s). Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that have the selected response; Select Not Equal To if you want to exclude those records instead.

  1. Click Ok to add the criteria to your subgroup template and return to the subgroup summary screen.

  2. Enable either AND or OR in the subgroup summary screen to indicate how this criteria should relate to the criteria directly above it.

Your subgroup results can include or exclude records based on the responses in text fields.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list to find the type of data you want to work with.

  2. Double-click the field you want to test to open the Field Properties window.

  1. Enter the response you want to evaluate in the text box at the top of the window. You can also leave the text box blank if you want to use the Prompt for Text option, and enter the response at the time you run the subgroup.

    When you use your subgroup, ViewPoint will not evaluate text that occurs after a percent sign (%). For example, if you type A% in the text box, any record that has a response that begins with the letter "A" is considered a match, no matter what, if anything, occurs after the letter "A".

  1. Click to OpenChoose the operation you want to use to test the text you entered. Text is tested numerically then alphabetically; upper / lower case is ignored.

    "Not" Option - You can also enable the Not option to reverse the meaning of the selected operator.

    Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that exactly match your text field.

    Select Not Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that do NOT match your text field.

    Select Greater Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall after (numerically / alphabetically), but do not match, your text field.

    Select Greater Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall after (numerically / alphabetically) or exactly match, your text field.

    Select Less Than if you want your subgroup results to include records that fall before (numerically / alphabetically), but do not match, your text field.

    Select Less Than or Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that either fall before (numerically / alphabetically) or exactly match your text field.

  1. If you want to enter the response to evaluate as you run the subgroup, enable the Prompt for Text option, then enter the prompt, or question, you want to pop onto your screen whenever the subgroup is run. This gives you the opportunity to subgroup different text at different times.

  1. Click Ok to add the criteria to your subgroup template and return to the subgroup summary screen.

  2. Enable either AND or OR in the subgroup summary screen to indicate how this criteria should relate to the criteria directly above it.

Your subgroup results can include or exclude records based on a time of day field.

  1. Expand the Ortho2 Subgroup Fields list to find the type of data you want to work with.

  2. Double-click the field you want to test to open the Field Properties window.

  1. Enter the first value you want to evaluate in the First Time field. If you want to subgroup a range of times, you may also enter the Last Time value.

  1. Click to OpenChoose the operation you want to use to test the selected value(s).

    "Not" Option - You can also enable the Not option to reverse the meaning of the selected operator.

    Select Equal To if you want your subgroup results to include records that exactly match your "First" field. Any value in the "Last" field is ignored.
